CBDT Extends Audit Report Filing Deadline for FY 2024-25
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has extended the deadline for submitting audit reports under the Income-tax Act, 1961, for the Assessment Year 2025-26. Originally set for September 30, 2025, the new deadline is now October 31, 2025, for assessees specified under clause (a) of Explanation 2 to section 139(1).
The decision follows representations from professional associations, including Chartered Accountant bodies, highlighting challenges faced by taxpayers and practitioners due to floods and natural calamities disrupting normal business activities. These issues have also been raised before High Courts.
