Professional tax on salary in Maharashtra 2024-25
Maharashtra government vide L.A. Bill No. XIII of 2023 Dated 20th March 2023 revised profession tax slab for salary and wage earners to give effect to the budget proposal. According to this notification there will no profession tax on women employees earning salary & wages up to Rs. 25000/- per month. This amendment will be effective from April 01, 2023.
Since the April 2023 , government has not amended professional tax rates in Maharashtra. Below professional tax rates are applicable in Maharashtra for Salary earners during the Fy 2024-25.
Here is the revised Maharashtra Professional tax slab rate for employees :

Professional tax rate for the month of February?
For salaries above ₹10,000/month, PT is ₹200/month from March to January and ₹300 in February, totaling ₹2,500/year. For male employees earning ₹7,501–₹10,000/month, it’s ₹175/month, totaling ₹2,100/year. So, do not forget to deduct ₹ 300/- for the February month.
Is professional tax refundable?
Professional tax is a state-imposed tax in India deducted from an employee’s salary by the employer and remitted to the state government. Once deducted and paid to the government, it is not refundable like many gets refund of Tax paid on salary in the form of TDS.
